About Chile

Thinking about Chile three things come to mind – the lonely and rough scenery of Patagonia, the mysterious Easter Islands and the driest desert in the world – the Atacama Desert. But Chile is much more than that. Wedged between the Andes Mountains and the Pacific Ocean it occupies a 4,300 km long and on average 175 km wide land strip. Its unusually long and narrow shape encompasses a huge variety of climates and landscapes, ranging from desert in the north, through Mediterranean climate in the centre, to a cold and snowy Alpine climate in the south.

The official language spoken by Chiles friendly inhabitants is Spanish. However, you can also still feel Chile’s cultural heritage since there are several indigenous languages spoken - Mapudungun, Quechua and Rapa Nui are three of them.
