Internship Program

The internship program offers you the opportunity of visiting and learning the Brazilian company way of life while improving your professional career in Brazil. There are many different internship areas and a vast range of organizations to choose from. Australians Abroad can arrange a position that suites your profile, interest and skills.

 

There are many different types of organisation to choose from such as NGO’s, private companies, foundations and universities. Social (education), cultural (National Heritage), ecological and tourism. Our objective is to find a place which suites the candidates’ profile, considering the information supplied in the registration form.

 

Program options

 

1. Standard Internship: The candidate can apply for listed positions according to the students´ field of study and interest. Activities and length of stay will be listed but dates may be flexible. Please see our current internship vacancies - click here to download PDF (368 kb).
2. Find and Internship: The candidate requests an internship in any area. A specialised placement will then be arranged to meet the candidate’s objectives and host organisation’s needs.
3. Do it Yourself: The candidate finds an opportunity and will then be supplied with the appropriate visa documentation.

• Language: Basic knowledge of Portuguese or Spanish is a plus.

• Qualifications/background: One year academic studies in the chosen field. Some companies require intermediate Portuguese.

• Proof of student status

Social Volunteering

 

Program Description

 

Brazil is a developing country, but despite the economic progress it is making it still has its problem areas. The most vulnerable in the poor communities of Brazil are the children, which often do not return home after school, but instead play on the streets and become easy targets for drug dealers and people who start exploiting them. Our two volunteer projects are based in Florianopolis and helps to keep children away from the streets. They help about 300 children with two projects, supervised by a specialist in educational orientation. The children’s age varies from 6 up to 12 years.

 

Length:

1 week up to 3 months

4 months

 

Candidates Requirements

• Must be a current university student

• Minimum 18 years old (17 year olds are accepted with a letter of consent from a parent/guardian)

• Open minded to participate in different projects, independent and team worker

• Portuguese knowledge is preferable but not necessary (Portuguese classes available upon request)

 

Included in the Fees

• Application processing, interview and pre-departure information

• Pick up transfer

• Cross-cultural orientation

• 15 hours of Portuguese classes and scheduled class-related activities

• Placement in community service project

• Orientation to volunteer work in Brazil

• Ongoing support by local volunteer coordinator

• Home stay during entire program

• Meals: half-board during the home stay portion and the voluntary work portion if participant is staying with a host family (lunch must be provided by volunteer)

• $50/month: contribution to the host project

Environmental Volunteering - River Otter (Not available at the moment)

 

Program Description:

The main goal of the project is the conservation of biodiversity and conservation of the South American river otter (endangered specie). The sustainability of the project comes from the integration between research projects and scientific tourism. Environmental consultancy is also carried on in order to help maintaining the project activities.

 

Length:

1 week up to 3 months

Football Trainging Program

 

Program Description

Football is in the Brazilian’s soul, blood and daily life. Brazil has consolidated its leadership in the sport with 5 world cup championships; more than any other nation. Learning to play football in Brazil is a unique experience.

 

The Brazil Football Training is a residential program designed for teens and adults from all around the world. Whatever your level of play we have professional coaching staff to accommodate you. English is also spoken during the classes to facilitate international students' communication. The Football Academy is run by former World Cup defender, Jose Oscar Bernardi. Focus areas include passing, dribbling and finishing.

• Aged from 13 to 26 years old

• Completed and signed application form

• Letter from the parents (for underage candidates)

Please note that some basic Portuguese is of advantage.

Accommodation

There are 3 different types of accommodation: Brasilis Training Centre (large rooms shared by many students), Cottage Brasilis (little houses shared by up to 5 students) and the apartments of the Resort (may be shared by up to 3 people). The international guests may choose which one suits them best according to their needs.
