About Russia
Russia is the largest country in the world. Extending across 17,075,400 square kilometers it spans 11 time zones. For example, if it is 10am in Moscow it will already be 5pm in Khabarovsk located in the East. Understandably, Russia's climate and landscape differ greatly – it has large forests, steppes, plains and mountains. In fact Russia contains all major vegetation zones except tropical rain forest. Our programs in Russia are concentrated in St. Petersburg, which is often called the “Venice of the North” due to its location at the river Neva. This beautiful city is located at the mouth of the river and consists of 42 islands. Because of its northern location it doesn't really get dark in summer. These “white nights” are an amazing phenomenon for both visitors and locals and make the summer days long and enjoyable.
