Professional Internship Program

 

The Professionals program offers the chance for young professionals and graduates to work and study in China. Participants are typically motivated, ambitious and eager people who understand the benefits of international work and life experience. The program is an excellent opportunity for people to build their resumes, change career direction and enhance their employability in either their home country or in Asia. For those participants hoping to apply to business school, this is an excellent way to gain international business experience.

 

This program is open to applicants of all backgrounds and does not require any previous Chinese language experience.

 

There are a number of available areas within this program which candidates may choose from. These include: Marketing, Business Development, IT, Hospitality, Real Estate, Finance, PR, Telecommunications, Legal, Engineering, NGO, Trade, and Consulting. Areas that are not included in this program are: Government and Defence. Most internships are paid (Training wage). Participants work four or five full days per week. This allows participants three full days to explore the city's day and night life to the full.

 

Professional Program participants will in most cases receive a local monthly salary that is commensurate with skills, experience and labour market in China. This is usually enough to cover rent or basic living expenses on a monthly basis. Note that salary ranges in China are significantly lower than in Australia.

MBA Internship Program

 

Students who have earned an MBA degree or are currently taking their MBA, qualify to apply to this work/study program that offers paid internships combined with a language study element. This program is a great opportunity for highly motivated, ambitious and dedicated people who understand the benefits of international work and life experience to further explore their potential. The ideal candidates for this program are those individuals who are committed to building their resumes and gaining work experience in Asia. The internships are hosted by multi-national, Chinese, or local based foreign companies.

 

It is not required that applicants have previous Chinese language experience.

Paid Hospitality Internship

 

This internship program offers paid positions (award wage) between 6-12 months within the hospitality field. This is a great opportunity for Australian students and entry level professionals looking to extend their knowledge and experience to that of the Chinese hospitality industry, whilst also funding their stay in China.

 

Roles include: Food & Beverage preparations/ serving/ presentation, Hospitality management, Housekeeping and Kitchen hand skills; a multitude of experiences to gain comprehensive understanding of the hospitality industry. Many positions will involve cross-training in two or more roles/ areas in hospitality and this is an exciting opportunity for applicants wanting to gain international experience and/ or use the internship as a stepping stone into the hospitality world.

Part I: Training & Orientation (1 week)

Teaching English

 

This program is currently available for candidates from the education field – university students, Tafe graduates and qualified teachers. This program is ideal for candidates who would like to work with children in Chinese kindergartens or high schools. Candidates will engage the children in creative activities and playfully teach them English. The major destinations for this program are Shanghai and Beijing.

Save the Panda Program

 

Giant Pandas, one of the most protected creatures, are adored by the world. This is a once a life time opportunity to work with pandas!

 

Volunteers in this program will have the rare opportunity to work at the China Conservation and Research Centre for the Giant Panda located in the Wolong Nature Reserve with Giant Panda Bears as well as other animals including Chinas golden monkey and red panda. The centre is located at the base of the picturesque Wolong Mountains.

The centre is dedicated to preserving animals, specifically the Giant Panda. Volunteers will work 6-7 hours a day depending on the time of year. Volunteers can participate in preparing food for the pandas, feeding pandas, working with experienced vets in Wolong’s Panda hospital, and helping with various research studies, data collection and panda behaviour observation. In addition to these activities volunteers have the chance to play with panda cubs and hike the beautiful mountains surrounding the Wolong Panda Centre.

 

Location: China Conservation and Research Centre for the Giant Panda located in the Wolong Nature Reserve in Sichuan Province. The Reserve is located in China's Min and Qionglai Mountains on the border of the Tibetan Plateau. Chengdu is the nearest city and is 3 hours away by car.
